Largest among the nation's bridge and tunnel toll authorities in terms of toll revenue, MTA Bridges and Tunnels also serves more than a million people daily in the New York metropolitan area. As a constituent agency of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), its dual role is to operate seven bridges and two tunnels and to provide surplus toll revenues to help support public transit. Its facilities are Triborough Bridge, Throgs Neck Bridge, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, Henry Hudson Bridge, Marine Parkway Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge, Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge, Brooklyn Battery Tunnel, and Queens Midtown Tunnel.
